We are so proud to announce that that we have met a landmark milestone in raising over £1 million+ for charities after the success of the first round of face coverings with The British Fashion Council. Our Great British Designer Face Coverings project saw us partner with the BFC to produce sustainable, reusable face coverings designed by 6 British Fashion Designers – Rixo, Liam Hodges, Mulberry, RAEBURN, Julien Macdonald, and Halpern. These face coverings were released in June as a non-medical alternative to surgical masks to help protect the planet whilst fighting the COVID crisis. Since then our face masks have been recommended by WHICH? As a best buy and have been rated as some of the best on the market! As well as the success of the face coverings themselves, we have also managed to raise over £1 million from the sale of the masks. £500,000 was given to the BFC Fashion Foundation Fund, which was used to support the designer community throughout the COVID crisis. The other money raised was split between NHS Charities together and The Wings of Hope Children’s Charity.
Pictured above you will see Chairman Dr Sri Ram handing a donation cheque to CEO of British Fashion Council Caroline Rush for £500,000 for the vital work that is done for the designer community in the UK.
We have now released a second round of face coverings, a global partnership with the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) and the BFC, where we (BOE) will manufacture and retail internationally the sustainable and reusable non-medical face coverings to use alongside existing social distancing measures.
Designed by three British designers, Ahluwalia, Preen by Thornton Bregazzi and Marques’Almeida and three American designers, Mara Hoffman, lemlem by Liya Kebede, and Kim Shui, the project aims to continue to raise money for the BFC Foundation Fashion Fund and CFDA’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusivity programming.
