Celebrating Sustainability, Innovation, and Purpose-Driven Leadership
On 21 November 2025, we had the privilege of attending the prestigious Future Icons Awards, hosted by Country & Town House at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in London. The awards shone a spotlight on pioneering businesses across fashion, beauty, jewellery, wellness, travel, community, and home, each leading the way in sustainability and responsible innovation. It was an inspiring gathering of entrepreneurs, industry leaders, and changemakers committed to shaping a more ethical, regenerative future.
Our CEO, Smruti Sriram OBE, was honoured to serve as one of this year’s judges, joining a panel dedicated to recognising companies going above and beyond in embedding sustainability into every aspect of their work.
Reflecting on her experience, Smruti shared:
“Judging the awards was a complete honour, and incredibly inspiring for me, as it showed what companies – small and large – are doing to innovate to make their businesses focus on sustainability in all manners of the meaning – people, planet, community and nature. The innovations in product, the tracking of metrics, and the kindness showed by the brands I judged, and the winners I saw today, showed me how much good leadership there are in businesses. Lucy Cleland, and the Country Town & House team, are remarkable advocates for our planet and good business practices, and having celebratory moments, with influential leaders in the room – is much needed today, giving hope and inspiration to others”
The awards are presented by Country & Town House, an award-winning, B-Corp-accredited media business dedicated to inspiring readers to live with balance, purpose, and joy. As Editor Lucy Cleland describes it, “Future Icons 2026 is the UK’s most exciting celebration of joyful purpose and ethical leadership, spotlighting the brands and individuals driving positive change for people and planet.”
The evening brought together a wonderful community of partners and supporters, including the British Fashion Council, Soho House, Monica Vinader, Amy Powney (AKYN), House of Hackney, and Patrick McDowell, as well as many friends of Bags of Ethics who continue to champion purposeful, planet-first business.
