At Bags of EthicsTM we have created a range of face coverings to help limit the spread of the COVID-19 virus. These reusable face mask have been developed by British and European designers and scientists, to help stop the spreading of bacteria from the nose and mouth of people who may have the virus but who don’t show symptoms. These face coverings keep the supply of medical face coverings for the healthcare professionals who need them most during this global pandemic.

REUSABLE AND PROTECTIVE

These are not medical grade surgical face coverings. Those are designed for healthcare workers with specific filtration requirements and are currently in short supply and are desperately needed across the world. However, our scientific advisors have given us some specific requirements which our washable face coverings meet in order to help prevent the spread of the virus through contamination via the release of droplets.

Our reusable face coverings are protective against droplets, pollution PM 10, and dust.

Our face coverings UK are washable with soap or detergent, by hand or in a washing machine. They can be machine washed up to 60 degree but can also be washed just as well at lower temperatures.
Image
Our fabric layer face coverings have a snug fit around the mouth and nose, with a nose strip and a panel available for filters for extra filtration.

Our face coverings are made from GOTS certified organic cotton

Our face coverings are printed with non-toxic inks meaning they help stop the spread of the virus whilst also protecting the planet from single-use plastic and unnecessary pollutants.

Our face coverings are made up of two different layers of organic cotton fabric, which means they are both comfortable and protective.

No Single-Use Plastic

We want to say goodbye to single-use plastic with our reusable face coverings. Disposable face coverings when not disposed of properly, can have a devastating effect on our planet and the communities which inhabit it.

A very shocking 150 million tons of single-use plastic is produced each year. With the increase in surgical single-use plastic face coverings use by the public, and with them not being disposed of correctly, single-use face coverings can create a wider environmental issue.

On the beaches of Hong Kong, hundreds of face coverings are being washed up, threatening the wildlife that inhabits our oceans across the globe. Our face coverings and protective pouches do not contain single-use plastic and therefore help to limit the amount of single-use face coverings being used around the world.

Made With love

Our BOE unisex face coverings are assembled in London, the home of BOE, with the raw materials coming from our partner Supreme Creation’s factory in Pondicherry. The factory supports a community and is made up of a 90% female workforce who work in merchandising, design, tailoring, fabric checking, printing and packing. The factory has one of the lowest staff turnovers in the textile industry, which is usually notorious for very high staff turnovers. Many of the employees have been at the factory for 15 years.

Scientific Community Conversation on Masks

George GaoEldad EinavBrienen, Nicole CJ
The big mistake in the U.S. and Europe, in my opinion, is that people aren’t wearing masks. This virus is transmitted by droplets and close contact. Droplets play a very important role—you’ve got to wear a mask, because when you speak, there are always droplets coming out of your mouth. Many people have asymptomatic or presymptomatic infections. If they are wearing face masks, it can prevent droplets that carry the virus from escaping and infecting others.
George Gao
Director - General of the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention
As the weight of evidence shifts toward supporting a major role for asymptomatic transmission, the use of personal facemasks, especially in crowded areas, becomes instrumental in preventing community spread of the virus. We can no longer rely on symptoms or screening to tell us whether mask protection is needed.
