Single-use plastic – award-winning fish and chip shop to eliminate plastic packaging

The nation’s favourite food is ready for an eco-overhaul. Award-winning Welsh fish and chip shop, the Crispy Cod, pledges to eliminate plastic and polystyrene packaging from their shop in an attempt to rid the local beaches of single-use plastic cutlery and packaging.
British fish and chips were originally served in a wrapping of old newspaper, but this practice has now been largely replaced with single-use plastic packaging.
They say “today’s news is tomorrow’s fish and chip papers”, but since traditional takeaways’ transition to non-biodegradable packaging, tomorrow’s news is actually threatened by today’s fish and chip packaging. Perhaps it is time to return to newspaper and wooden forks?
